On the desktop (opening screen) click twice on "My Computer" icon.

Click twice on the "Dial-up Networking" icon.

Click twice on the "Make New Connection" icon

Type a name for the connection in the first text box.
Click on the "Next" button.

Area code is not needed.
Enter dial-up number in the "Telephone number" text box.
Click on the "Next" button.

Click on the "Finish" button

Click once with the right hand button of the mouse, on the new connection.
Click once on "Properties"

Select the "General" tab.
Click once on the check mark in "Use area code and Dialling Properties". This will remove the check mark.

Make sure the only boxes checked are:
"Enable software compression"
"TCP/IP"
Click on the "OK" button to finish your setup.
