HOME NETWORK SET-UP

Routers are used to connect multiple computers and other devices to share the Internet at the same time.  It also secures your entire home network from malicious users on the Internet.  If you require a router for your home or office, we are a Linksys Certified Reseller and will configure and secure your router, provide free shipping, after sales support, and offer a 1-year warranty against product defects.  Please contact us for more details.

Connecting the Internet to your Wireless Linksys Router

  1. Unplug the black T-Connector labelled “To Computer” from the back of your computer and plug it into the yellow port labelled “Internet” on the back of your Linksys router.
  2. Connect the provided power supply to your Linksys router.
  3. Plug the power supply into a standard electrical outlet.
  4. Verify the lights on the router show power to the unit.
  • If you are going to hardwire your laptop or second computer to the router via Ethernet network cable, connect one end of the supplied blue Ethernet cable to the blue port number 1 on your new Linksys Router.  Connect the other end to your Ethernet port on the back of your computer.  Additional Ethernet enabled computers, printers, or devices can be added to the remaining ports 2-4.

Your wireless router is now operational and the Internet should be available on any computers connected directly to the router via Ethernet cable.

Connecting your Wireless Computer to the Router

  1. Power up your wireless computer.  Log in normally, and make sure that your computer’s physical switch (if equipped) is enabled to turn on your wireless network card.
  2. Right-click on the wireless network icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your desktop and choose “View Wireless Networks”
  3. Select your wireless network (shown by the SSID listed above) and click Connect
  4. A prompt will appear requesting the network key or network password.  Enter the Network Key (as shown above) and confirm if requested by entering it again.  Click OK to initiate the connection.
  5. Your computer should respond with “Acquiring IP Address” followed by “Connected”

Your wireless connection is now operational and the Internet should be available.

NOTE: The reset button on the back of the router will remove the existing security configuration and return the unit to factory defaults.  Do not press this button unless you are prepared to reconfigure the router’s security features.
